Overview

Milkbar is a refreshing addition to Docklands’ coffee scene, ideally situated at 691 La Trobe Street, just steps away from Marvel Stadium. This coffee shop strikes a fine balance between modern design and cozy comfort, making it a perfect retreat for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re a resident of the nearby Home Apartments or just exploring the area, Milkbar offers a spacious, welcoming atmosphere where you can easily find a quiet nook or a lively spot depending on your mood.

The menu impresses with its thoughtful blend of classic and creative offerings. Coffee lovers will appreciate the consistently well-crafted lattes, including the much-praised almond latte and the whimsical piggy latte art that captures both skill and personality. Alongside strong, comforting brews, Milkbar serves a solid lineup of soft drinks, teas, and cold-pressed juices, catering to diverse tastes throughout the day.

Milkbar’s food highlights marry simplicity with flavor. Their Danish pastry and biscoff French toast stand out as perfect accompaniments to any drink, whether you visit solo or with company. For those seeking a more substantial meal, the all-day brunch selections are thoughtfully composed. Dishes like the chili scrambled eggs loaded with Manchego cheese and bacon, as well as the avocado on seeded toast topped with beetroot relish and feta, demonstrate a clever use of fresh ingredients and balanced flavors.

Salads here deserve particular mention. The Moroccan lamb salad, with spiced chickpeas and vibrant herbs, and the grilled chicken Mexican salad featuring kale, black beans, and a mild guasacaca dressing, both deliver satisfying textures and bright, harmonious tastes. These dishes reflect Milkbar’s commitment to fresh, health-conscious meals without sacrificing indulgence.

Customers consistently acknowledge the friendly and attentive staff, who contribute to a relaxed and inviting vibe, despite occasional busy spells. The absence of tipping screens hints at a service approach focused more on genuine hospitality than transactional interactions. While some reviews note moments of understaffing, the overall experience remains positive, particularly for those who value a calm, comfortable space to enjoy quality coffee and food.

In essence, Milkbar carves out its niche as a modern café destination aimed at a diverse audience—from brunch lovers and café regulars to stadium visitors and apartment residents looking for reliable, flavorful fare. Its blend of strong coffee, thoughtful meals, and inviting space makes it a small gem in Docklands’ evolving food landscape.

They got rid of the tipping screen and every time I've come here the staff have been great. Sometimes it's under staffed, normally on days management probably wasn't expecting it to be busy, so the wait can be a bit long but that is not the service staffs fault! I love the atmosphere and layout. It's always easy to find a comfy spot tucked away.

Amazing people, amazing place. This is my second visit here—last time I had a flat white with hash browns, and this morning I enjoyed an almond latte with eggs. I absolutely loved both experiences. The team is so welcoming and never disappoints. I can’t wait to visit again soon for more!

Modern Café for drinks and light meals. Attached to the Home Apartments at Marvel Stadium, this is a welcome addition to Docklands which is sadly in need of more cafe's that are open on the weekends. On our recent visit, it looks like service is still spotty. But the décor is welcoming, coffee ($5.50) is strong, with decent pastries ($6.50). Grilled chicken salad ($20) - chicken is not dry, served warm, with a tasty side salad of corn, avocado, kale, black beans with a mild guasacaca (Venezuelan, Avocado) dressing.

Nice and spacious ambience. Loved their hot chocolate. Home docklands apartment residents can expect some offers or discounts. No complaints about food. Enjoyed the avo toast and biscoff French toast peacefully.
